A few weeks ago, Ashley got the call from St. Louis Magazine to shoot various environmental portraits of a mix of people who have moved the St. Louis fashion scene forward. Later she learned that St. Louis’ very own former Project Runway contestants Laura Kathleen Planck and Michael Drummond were on her list. Being the Project Runway fanatic that she is, Ashley was thrilled!
Shooting at Michael Drummond’s downtown St. Louis loft, Ashley was able to utilize natural daylight and existing décor to create these glamorous and visually intriguing shots. The background of the main shot shown above is a picture wall MIchael made of his father’s photography as a cool tribute to St. Louis culture from the 60’s and 70’s. “I loved the contrast of Michael's urban eclectic space and their fancy clothes” Ashley said. “We just wanted to show the humor in being part of the fashion elite in a really exaggerated and fun way. I hope people find it as amusing as we did.”
As a Project Runway junkie myself, when I asked for the scoop about working with Laura Kathleen and Michael, Ashley said they were a lot of fun to work with, and a little wine helped get everyone into character. Now a current contestant on Project Runway Allstars, Laura Kathleen is still killing it with her beautiful designs and Ashley (and myself) are rooting for her to win.
